From Cruise Port:    Darwin

Your local guide will pick you up from the cruise ship terminal. Once the team is set we journey to Howard Springs approximately 30 minutes south of Darwin. Here you will get among a vibrant example of monsoonal forest which fringes a crystal clear natural spring full of fish, turtles and all sorts of "Top End" critters. Enjoy an interpretive walk through the forest after which we will take the time to enjoy some home made snacks, tea and coffee.

From here it is on to Casuarina Coastal Reserve. Nothing says "Top End" more than a wander along the soft white sandy beaches with the northern breeze in your hair. Casuarina is also the most visited reserve in the "Top End" and yet does not appear on visitor maps. It is almost exclusive to locals. There is a diversity of habitats here including mangroves, riparian and rare Casuarina woodland. You will be guided through these culminating with a beach stroll along Casuarina beach.

Throughout your experience your guide will also be introducing you to bush foods, medicines and materials that can be found in these habitats.

All in all a comprehensive introduction to the natural diversity of the "Top End".

Following Casuarina it is back to the cruise terminal and bon voyage !

How fit and agile do I need to be?

As standard, you need a reasonable level of fitness as the walks/hikes are of low to medium difficulty, mild to hot days (25-45 C), swimming spots, stairs, sand, gorges and gullies. Persons of moderate fitness and agility as evidenced by the ability to skip for 5 metres without having or feeling like you might have a heart attack are suitable for this tour.

    What should I bring?

It is always a good idea to bring the following on any trip in Australia particularly if going into the bush: Hat, water bottle (at least 500ml), towel, comfortable walking shoes, any medicines you may need.

How big will the group be?

On cruise ship days you should expect 8 or less on our standard shared tour. On our EXCLUSIVE tours we can cater for a maximum of 6 persons

What Aboriginal culture and content do you include in your tours?

How can you cram 1000s of years of endeavour into a 1 day itinerary! Recognising this we do attempt to provide you with enough knowledge of pre-history and the landscape as we can as a starting point for you to begin your journey of understanding and appreciation for the people and their culture. Where possible we also include indigneous guides where appropriate.

Can I bring all the children?

In the interest of fairness to others, we do not take children under 8 years old on our open tours. We do however offer family tours (as a private charter) which allow for all members of any age to hang out together and have fun.

    What is an Ethical Adventure?

An experience which provides the fun and adventure of standard holiday experiences matched with the ability to learn & discuss underlying issues which may potentially threaten the integrity of the environment or culture in which the adventure is undertaken.
